Court frames charges against Saif Ali Khan for assaulting NRI businessman

Saif, who was present in the court while hearing, reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges framed against him.

He had allegedly punched NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma in a restaurant at the Taj Hotel in Colaba after the latter sent over a note asking the actor's group to talk softer.

According to reports, Saif has been charged under Section 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The hearing in this case against Saif will begin from April 30.

Khan and his friends-Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi-were arrested following a complaint filed by the business over a fight that took place at the Wasabi restaurant in Taj Hotel on February 22, 2012.

According to reports, Saif was having dinner with actress Kareena Kapoor and their friends Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora, her husband Shakeel Ladak and producer-actor Bilal Amrohi at the time of the incident.
