Pakistan boat intercepted; 8 held, narcotics worth Rs 600 crore seized

In a closely coordinated operation undertaken by the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, a boat carrying a large quantity of narcotics was apprehended in international waters, off the coast of Gujarat on Monday.

The operation also resulted in apprehension of eight Pakistani nationals manning the boat," a statement from the Defence Ministry on Tuesday said.

"The boat was intercepted and apprehended by Indian Coast Guard ship 'Sangram' on Monday, whilst Indian Navy ship 'Kondul' provided support to the entire operation.

The initial investigations have led to the recovery of 232 packets of narcotics (suspected to be heroin and worth up to Rs 600 crore in the international markets)," it said.

Sukhoi's serviceability to improve by year-end: Parrikar

We have been trying to improve the serviceability of Sukhois. It has improved by seven percent in last 8-9 months to reach to 56-57 per cent," he added in Rajya Sabha, exuding hope that it would go up to 75 per cent by the year end.

Parrikar explained the Indian Air Force has also finalised long-term repair agreements with Russian OEMs to improve availability of aircraft for operational use.
