SIT approaches court to bring riot accused to Muzaffarnagar

Subodh was arrested in an encounter with Baghpat police while he was on his way to allegedly murder someone on March 7, following which he was lodged in Meerut jail, Special Investigation Team, the sources said.

   

The accused has been absconding since the riots took place last year, they said.

   

The court had initiated attachment proceedings against Subodh in connection with Bahawdi village killing case during the riots.

   

Three people including two women were killed by rioters at Bahawdi village under Phugana police station in the district in September last year. The Special Investigation Team found Subodh's involvement in the case.

Muzaffarnagar riots: Accused bail plea dismissed

The court yesterday dismissed the plea of Yogendra Singh, saying there was no case of bail.

According to the prosecution, few people, including the accused, were booked for looting goods from Singh's house at Simbhalka village in neighbouring Shamli district in September last year.

   

The sufferers had filed a complaint against the miscreants for looting Rs 8 lakh cash and household items meant for their daughter's wedding. The incident happened when the victim and his family had left the place fearing clashes.

   

More than 60 people were killed and over 50,000 were displaced during the riots in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September last year.
