Ali had earlier praised BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his policies.
"Modi's policies are good and his work for development is also laudable," Ali told mediapersons in Patna.
According to reports, Ali may join the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was earlier said to be upset after the JD (U) refused to nominate him to the Rajya Sabha.
Without naming any party, Ali said that ‘small parties’ were trying to cheat Muslims in the name of secularism.
"But Muslims will not get trapped in this game this time,” he said.
Ali had earlier reportedly questioned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s idea of a Third Front, and said that every leader in such a front wants to become the country’s Prime Minister.
