Salman's fans celebrate as court grants him bail in 2002 hit-and-run case

A huge crowd including curious onlookers and admirers had gathered outside Galaxy apartments ahead of the court hearing on the 49-year-old actor's appeal against conviction.

As soon as the news of his bail poured in, fans started celebrating and dancing resulting in traffic
disruptions in the area for a while.

A posse of security personnel, including a team of State Reserve Police Force, was deployed in the area.

Meanwhile, dressed in casuals with his sun glasses on Salman left for sessions court at around 1.30 PM to execute a fresh bail bond even as celebrities including actor Anupam Kher, Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, music director Anu Malik, director duo Abbas-Mastan visited his house.

Earlier in the day, Salman's sister Alivra Agnihotri, was present for the hearing at the High Court along with Congress leader Baba Siddiqui. His brothers Arbaaz and Sohail chose to stay with Salman at home.

Salman Khan's sister Arpita thanks fans for support on 'big' day

The 49-year-old actor is facing charges under IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which attracts maximum 10 years imprisonment.
  
Judge D W Deshpande has summoned Salman to the sessions court at 11.15 AM when the verdict is expected to be delivered in the over 12-year-old case.
  
"Today is a big day for us & we know we are not alone. Thank you for your Dua's, love & support always. God bless!" tweeted Arpita, who recently got married to Aayush Sharma in a lavish ceremony hosted by Salman.

  
On September 28, 2002 Salman's car had allegedly rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring, four others who were sleeping outside.
  
The film industry is keeping its fingers crossed as an investment of about Rs 200 crore is riding on the "Dabangg" star.
  
His two upcoming films, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" which stars Kareena Kapoor and "Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo" opposite Sonam Kapoor, are currently in the last "schedule" of shooting.
    
After Sanjay Dutt, Salman is the second big star from Hindi film industry to get embroiled in a high-profile criminal case in recent years.

Salman Khan pleads not guilty in arms case

CJM Anupama Bijlani had on April 23 asked Salman's counsel to ensure his presence in the court on April 29.On Wednesday, he was present in the court along with his counsel and answered the questions posed by the court.

Salman Khan and a few other Bollywood stars were accused of poaching blackbucks on the midnight of October 1-2, 1998 during the shooting of Hindi movie "Hum Saath Saath Hain".

Two blackbucks, a protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, were killed on the outskirts of Kankani village near Jodhpur. Salman is accused of carrying and using illegal arms. He is also alleged to have been carrying arms with expired license.

Salman Khan's father Salim Khan, four others declined to accept Padma awards

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in Rajya Sabha that in accordance with the normal practice, willingness of the person proposed to be conferred Padma awards is informally  ascertained to the extent possible before the announcement of the award.

"Five persons, including Salim Khan, declined to accept the Padma awards in 2015," he said, in reply to a written question.
  
This year the President has approved conferment of Padma awards to 104 persons -- nine Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri awardees.
  
As many as 17 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 17 persons from the category of foreigners, NRIs, PIOs and four posthumous awardees.
  
Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
  
The awards are given in various disciplines or fields of activities, viz. art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.

Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day every year.

Salman Khan impressed with Varun's role in 'Badlapur'

Varun, 27, who has earlier featured in comical and romantical roles in Bollywood, will be seen in a rowdy avatar in the revenge drama.
  
"Wah yaar! Kamaal karte ho mr varun! Badlapur! Already trying different stuff. Film is looking good. Baap ka record tod do jaldi. Happy for you," Salman, 48, posted on Twitter.
  
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film's teaser was released online and since then it has been getting a positive response.
  
Varun thanked the 'Kick' star and mentioned he will be visiting 'Bigg Boss 8', which is being hosted by Salman, to promote the film.
  
"Thank u @BeingSalmanKhan bhai see you tomorrow at big boss #weekendkavaarwithsalman," Varun posted. Also starring Divya Dutta, Yami Gautam, Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vinay Pathak, 'Badlapur' is slated to release next year.

Rani shoots special national anthem video with women police

Rani will be featuring in the video singing the national anthem along with real cops, from constable rank to the top most officials.

"Shooting the National Anthem with the women police force and Rani was quite an exhilarating experience. The women power of India singing the anthem altogether makes you stand up in pride and salute the true shakti present in all the Mardaani's of India," director Pradeep Sarkar, who has directed the video, said in a statement here.
  
This special anthem video will be played in the multiplexes this Friday onwards with the release of Salman Khan's 'Kick'.

Rani plays the role of cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in the film, which deals with a sensitive subject of human trafficking.

Salman’s birthday surprise for Sajid Nadiadwala on sets of 'Kick'

A spokesperson for the film said, "A red carpet was rolled out in the evening, as we waited for Sajid sir to finish the shot and go to his vanity. The entire place was lit up with big lights, sky lanterns and lots of balloons."

Sajid’s family, mother Shafaat, wife Warda, kids Subhan and Sufyan surprised the director by visiting the sets to wish him happiness. A three-tier cake baked specially for the evening was said to be in a shape of a huge movie camera.

The source further mentioned, "Sir was stunned as he walked out. Flooded with flowers and gifts, he happily posed with everyone, for pictures. He and Salman were engrossed giggling about past memories with his family and Jacqueline."

The team is currently shooting in Film City, Mumbai, for the much talked-about project. Sajid’s calendar is marked with releases like 'Highway', '2 States', 'Heropanti', 'Kick', 'Phantom' and an untitled film.
