Dancing like MJ in 'Bang Bang' was crazy: Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik said he refused initially because he thought it would be impossible to dance like MJ without rehearsing for months.

"When Sid told me to do the steps of Michael Jackson. I retorted saying; are you mad? This in an impossible task because I need months to rehearse to match up to his steps. Initially, I thought it was a bad idea. Then I thought MJ is the God of dance and has been someone whom I have idolised all my life. I have to do this for my love and respect for him," Hrithik said during the launch of the title track here.

"It doesn't matter how I dance or how I match up the steps but I have to this for the man I love and who was responsible for my career in dance. I have done this in my own style. The steps are his and the style is mine. When you do something for love you set yourself free," said the actor.

When asked about becoming an inspiration to dance lovers in the country, Hrithik said he takes it as a huge responsibility.

"With my work if I can become an inspiration for many who want to go through a journey like this, then it is really a feel good thing. Everyone has dreams and if I can be of any help to achieve their dreams I will be very happy. I take it as a responsibility," he said.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, 'Bang Bang' will hit the theatres on October 2.

Actors singing in films refreshing change: Kailash Kher

Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor have sung in their films. Kailash says he does not feel threatened by this trend.

"I am not threatened by these actors at all. It's a beautiful and refreshing change in the industry. There was a time when singers like Kishore Kumar used to sing and act in his films.

"We are going back to our roots and follwing the same trend. This initiative also helps to enhance the popularity of the movie," Kailash told.

The 'Teri Deewani' hitmaker is relaxed after Bombay High Court restrained Mumbai Police from taking any action against him for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments with his 2007 song 'Babam Bam' following a police complaint by a Ludhiana man.

The 41-year-old singer says he will continue singing songs that will define spirituality despite the legal trouble that he faced for 'Babam Bam'.

"I feel one should not be affected by bad and rather inspired by good. I will not be hesitant to sing spiritual songs. I will continue singing. I don't know what was hurting in that song. It's just an attempt to take undue advantage," said Kailash.

The musician, who will be a part of MTV Indies talk show 'The Ride' this weekend where he will talk about his life and music, has also composed the music of upcoming film 'Desi Kattey'. Kailash says each rendition in the film is situational and has a story.

"There are six songs in the film which I have composed. Every song has come out of a story. It has a friendship song, an item number and a romantic track. They are sung by singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I have also sung one song in it," he added.

'Lakshmi' movie review: Encounter with harsh realities of child prostitution

'Lakshmi' movie review
Story Line: Lakshmi (Monali Thakur) is 13 years-old girl who has been kidnapped and sold by Chinna (Nagesh Kukunoor) and his brother Garoo (Satish Kaushik) to a brothel.

The teenage girl has been forced to become a sex worker. After two failed attempts to escape from the hell, Lakshmi is rescued by a local NGO. With the help of the NGO, she decides to put the two pimps, Chinna and Garoo, behind the bar. The film is an honest and appalling story of Laksmi’s journey to emerge victorious against all odds.

Movie Review: Based on true story, the film is an appalling and heat wrenching journey of a brave girl. While Kukunoor has directed this film with utmost intensity, singer turned actor Monali Thakur gives flesh and blood to the character of Lakshmi. Monali isn’t an actress surely but she does a brilliant job in the film. Her natural innocence and childlike beauty goes well with the character. Monali Thakur has taken a very bold step by making her Bollywood debut with such an unconventional film. In future, she has to be careful in choosing movie offers.

Nagesh Kukunoor has always made a mark as a filmmaker but in this film he shows his flair for acting.
The strong story plot moves one so much, that minor flaws remain unnoticed. There are few scenes in the film which might shake you to the core and you start relate yourself to Lakshmi’s pain. The dialogues of film may make you feel uncomfortable in certain situation. But when it comes to conveying the underlying message, there is no better way.

'Kochadaiyaan' should be viewed as animated film: Ravikumar

Still from 'Kochadaiyaan'
"Kochadaiyaan" directed by Soundarya, daughter of Rajinikanth, is touted to be India's first motion capture photo-realistic 3D animated film.

"It's very important that audience doesn't walk in expecting to watch a typical Rajinikanth film. Of course, there's Rajini in it, but in an animated form that is larger than life. His fans need to understand this before the walk in...only then will they enjoy the film," Ravikumar said.

"Audience needs to understand it's a first-of-its-kind attempt. Therefore, they need to see the film as an animated feature to enjoy it to the fullest. In fact, that's why we want audiences to watch the film with their kids to enjoy the experience," he said.

Ravikumar was to direct Rajinikanth in a film titled "Rana", but the project was dropped after the southern megastar fell seriously ill a few years back.

"Kochadaiyaan" was derived from "Rana", says Ravikumar.

"When Rajini sir was hospitalised a few years back, we had shelved 'Rana'. But I worked on another story which was more like a prequel to 'Rana', and that was 'Kochadaiyaan'. When I narrated the story to him, he instantly agreed to do it," he added.

"Kochadaiyaan", slated to release on April 11, also features Jackie Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Aadi Pinisetty, R. Sarath Kumar and Rukmini in important roles.

Sunil should have never left our show: Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma
Sunil effectively and effortlessly portrayed Gutthi in "Comedy Nights With Kapil" before leaving the show late last year. He has now embarked on his own show "Mad In India", where he plays the character of Chutki.

Kapil, who watched the show, said, "All I can say is, he (Sunil) should have never left our show. Sunil was part of a very collaborative and creative team. We were all part of the success of our show.”

"I am saying this with not a shred of excessive humility but the show belongs to the entire talented team. Ali Asgar, who plays my Daadi, Upasana Singh who plays my Bua, Kiku Sharad who plays Palak and Sumona Chakravarty who plays my wife and, of course, Sidhu paaji (Navjot Singh Sidhu). What would the show be without them? Sunil was an integral part of the team,” said Kapil.

So what went wrong?

"I don't know. Sunil has been around trying to find his bearings in the entertainment industry. He is my senior. I have the highest regard for his talents. And I am not the kind to feel threatened or competitive about anyone,” he added.

"In fact, I go out of my way to ensure every member of my team has a chance to take centrestage, so I can relax. Sunil must have been provoked into leaving by people around him," said Kapil, who launched ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ on Colors in June last year.

Kapil is also upset with Sunil's show. "Jo baat Gutthi mein thi hamare show mein, woh baat mujhe Chutki mein nahin dikhi (I don't find Sunil's Chutki act to be comparable with his Gutthi on my show).Sunil seems lost on the show. As he is my friend and a very important team member, I can only hope to see him happy and comfortable in whatever he is doing," he said.

leana D’Cruz, Varun Dhawan and Nargis Fakhri
Accordingly, the Student of the Year actor has copied MJ’s moves in his second Bollywood outing ‘Main Tera Hero’. In fact, the actor has imitated the icon in all four tracks of the film, which is directed by his father David Dhawan.

“Varun requested choreographer duo Bosco-Caesar to include Michael Jackson’s signature moves in all the songs. They readily agreed as they are big fans of MJ as well and they wanted to pay him a tribute. Like everyone else, Varun was heavily influenced by MJ, especially, when he was a student at Shiamak Davar’s dance class,” says a source.

“Varun made sure that MJ’s famous moves such as the moonwalk, the pelvic thrusts, crotch grabs, side slides, the anti-gravity lean and the synchronized dance moves feature prominently in the film’s songs. He wants audiences to immediately relate to the dance moves,” the source adds. Matching MJ’s steps with Varun in the film are his co-stars Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’Cruz.

Bebo's special gesture for hairdresser

(Pic courtesy: Jagran.com)
A source close to her says, “Bebo was aware that it was Pompy's birthday so she already made plans to surprise him. She specially called his friends over on the set without letting him know and ordered his favourite cuisines.”

Normally, Pompy prefers to take an off on his birthdays and likes to celebrate with his near and dear ones. “Pompy is very close to Kareena and never misses out to be with her whenever she’s shooting. Kareena too makes sure that he is present on the set and treats him like a family. They share a good working rapport therefore he couldn't say no to her when she called him for this particular assignment. But Kareena made all preparations for his cake-cutting and lunch after the shoot.”

Needless to add, her staff and his friends were overwhelmed by this gesture.

Kareena's spokesperson confirms the news and says, “Pompy has been Kareena’s hairdresser for many years now and on occasion of his birthday Kareena decided to do something special on the sets with the rest of her team and his friends.”

Kashmiri musician to compose song for Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Haider'

Shahid Kapoor in Haider
Raja Bilal, a young local composer, confirmed that Bhardwaj approached him recently to compose a song with the traditional Kashmiri music for his movie.

"Traditional Kashmiri musical instruments including the 'Tumbaknari', 'Sarangi' 'Rabab' and 'Nout' were used to compose the song by an orchestra of local musicians selected by me," Bilal told reporters.

"Haider" has been exclusively shot in the Kashmir Valley and the film maker has spent months with his crew shooting the movie at different locations here.

The film has Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles while Irfan Khan and Tabu have guest roles in the film.

According to the film maker, "Haider" is completely based on Kashmir's past and present.

The movie is part of Vishal Bhardwaj's Shakespearean trilogy after "Maqbool" which was based on Macbeth and "Omkara" which was based on Othello.

The film shooting had recently had a hiccup when some locals protested its schedule in the old city's Zaina Kadal area, but both the local authorities and the film unit said later the shooting schedule has been going on smoothly in the Valley.
