Bihar court orders FIR against Giriraj, Sonia says won't respond to people with 'narrow mindset'

The Congress also took to streets stepping up its demand for sacking of Singh staging protests in Delhi and also in Bengaluru where BJP leaders have gathered for its National Executive meet.

The BJP on its part sought to bring closure to the raging controversy, saying it considers the matter closed as the minister has expressed his regret.

As the outrage against Singh continued after he kicked up a row with his remarks asking whether Congress would have accepted Sonia's leadership had she not been white-skinned, Singh came under attack even from BJP ally and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha.

"It does not behove a union minister to speak in such a language...it's objectionable remark," Kushwaha, President Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), an ally of BJP, told reporters in Patna.

Giriraj's remarks on Sonia spark row, Congress demands his sacking

"Had Rajiv Gandhi married a Nigerian woman and if she was not a white-skinned woman, would the Congress have then accepted her leadership?," he told journalists on Tuesday.

Various women leaders also attacked Singh, who is Minister of State for micro, small and medium enterprises, saying it reflected his racial mindset and attitude towards women.

The minister, who had courted controversies in the past with remarks during Lok Sabha elections like people opposed to Narendra Modi can go to Pakistan, also mocked Rahul Gandhi's absence from the political scene and likened it to the "missing Malaysian airliner".

"Imagine a situation, if Congress was in power instead of us and had Rahul been the Prime Minister, and if for some reason, the PM had disappeared for more than 47 days. Absence of Congress Vice President is similar to that of the missing Malaysian airliner that still has not been located,” he said.

“The same way the Congress leader was not present in the Budget Session. No one in Congress is ready to speak. This is unfortunate for the Congress and a joke for the country,” he added.

Change of regimes in Rajasthan, Haryana forces Robert Vadra to sell his companies

The four companies which were sold by Vadra are Lifline Agrotech Private Limited, Righline Agriculture Private Limited, Greenwave Agro Private Limited and Prime Time Agro Private Limited.

According to reports, Vadra may close his two other companies--Future Infra Agro Limited and Best Seasons Private Limited-- soon. All the closed companies were active in two states--Rajasthan and Haryana-- under Congress rule.  Vadra was the Managing Director of all the companies which were involved in the business of agriculture-based products.

In Rajasthan, BJP under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje has ousted Ashok Gehlot government in May this year while in Haryana the saffron party has formed the government recently for the first time by replacing Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government.

Vadra has opened 12 companies for business in real sector in Rajasthan and Haryana in 2012. In Haryana the government has initiated enquiry against deal finalised by Vadra's companies in the state.

Vadra is reported to have started selling his companies soon after the swearing-in of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country. Besides companies, Vadra, the husband of Priyanka Gandhi, has also started selling his lands in Haryana.
